Active in India for more than 70 years, Rhodia offers its innovative suite
of specialty chemicals products and services to Indian customers from a wide
range of markets such as home & personal care, agrochemicals, oilfield
chemicals, pharmaceutical, flavors & fragrances, automotive, electronics,
catalysts and tire. Rhodia is headquartered in Mumbai and comprises two companies, Albright & Wilson Chemicals India Ltd (acquired in 2000) and Hindustan Gum & Chemicals (a joint venture with one of India’s largest conglomerates, the Birla Group, since 1962). AWCI operates a plant at Roha, located 140 km south-east of Mumbai, producing surfactants for the home care, personal care and agrochemical markets. Employing 120 people, it has sulphuric acid, hexameta phosphate, sulphonation and sulphation units. We operate another plant at Ambarnath producing STPP for detergent applications. AWCI has embarked on an expansion of its Roha site. The new facility, due to come on stream in the third quarter of 2008, will increase sulphation capacity on the site and produce surfactants for domestic and export markets. For the first time, Roha will be producing products for Polymer System Specialties as well as Home and Personal Care. |
