April 23, 2021 - Steam turbine
manufacturer Doosan Škoda Power will supply a 15MW steam turbine including
accessories for a planned chemical plant in Emet, Turkey. Thus, the
Pilsen-based company will follow on the supply of a turbine and a generator
for Europe’s largest waste incinerator plant built in Istanbul.
The Etimaden EMET Sulfuric Acid Production Plant is being built in
Emet in Kütahya Province, Turkey. The factory will be in continuous
operation for 330 days a year and the steam turbine will generate
electricity from residual heat for both the plant’s own operation and the
surrounding area. Doosan Škoda Power will supply all accessories along with
the turbine itself and the company’s engineers will also supervise assembly
of the unit at the construction site.
“EMET Sulphuric Acid Production facility will make a significant
contribution to Turkey’s boron treatment and boron products process which
have a wide range of usage areas including but not limited to agriculture,
cleaning, metallurgy, health and textile. Alongside the production of
sulphuric acid, the plant will also supply electricity to the EMET Boron
Works by the help of Steam Turbine and Generator which are supplied by
Doosan Skoda. In this regard, as EKON team we are very pleased to cooperate
with Doosan Skoda and we would like to sustain this cooperation as we have
already done for another ETI Maden project in Bandırma, Turkey”, said Yaman
COŞKUN, representative of EKON.
“The project entails a standard steam turbine with accessories but with an
atypical delivery deadline. We have 12 months from the date of signing the
contract to supply the unit to the construction site,” said project manager
Lucie Franková. The design and engineering work and material procurement are
currently underway. The first delivery, which included foundation bolts and
other built-in components, was sent to Turkey at the end of February. Doosan
Škoda Power has already received a rotor forging from its supplier, which is
scheduled to reach the construction site along with other components by
September at the latest. “EMET

January 25, 2021 - Skoda Power, based in Pilsen in the
Czech Republic, turned to Jeumont Electric to supply an alternator
for Turkey’s ETI Maden, the world’s leading supplier of boron used
in agricultural fertilizers. The new alternator will be
coupled to a steam turbine via a steam boiler and will provide
electricity primarily for a 350,000-ton-per-year sulfuric acid
production plant near Emet in Turkey’s Kütahya Province. The
new equipment will be built near the existing boric acid plant and
will have the necessary auxiliary equipment, including a distilled
water treatment plant, waste treatment facilities, a natural gas
system, and emergency sprinklers. The steam generated by the acid
process will be used to produce electricity. This new
facility will be one of Turkey’s largest sulfuric acid plants.
Desmet Ballestra S.p.A is pleased to announce
the award of the contract for the supply of MECS license, process design
and critical detailed engineering and key equipment from Ekon Industry
Construction & Trade Inc. for Eti Maden Sulfuric Acid Plant, to be
installed in Emet (Turkey).Ekon is a private and dynamic EPC contractor
with more than 35 years of experience in the execution of industrial
projects.Eti Maden is a Turkish public company, world leader in the
production of boron. The Sulfuric Acid Plant will have a capacity of 1000
TPD as 100% H2SO4 and will be equipped with DuPont MECS enhanced heat
recovery system (HRS™), which allows to maximize steam and energy
production in an environmental friendly way.The EPC project was awarded
to Ekon on a public tender basis, including a wide list of qualified
bidders.DBI was selected by Ekon thanks to a combination of high
efficiency technology, proven track record, competitive commercial terms
and efficient and reliable execution scheme proposed.Desmet Ballestra is
delighted for the award of the Eti Maden SAP unit from Ekon, being the
second sulfuric acid project with HRS™ that our company will deliver in
Turkey after the one started up for Toros Tarim in Samsun in 2016.
