Background | PRECHEZA a.s. became a succession company of the former state enterprise Prerovské chemické závody Prerov in 1991. The process of privatisation was completed in 1996 when the joint-stock company PRECOLOR became the majority owner (the trade company PRECOLOR was established in 1995 and is specialised in trade in the field of inorganic pigments, selected inorganic intermediate products and raw materials; it is a part of the AGROFERT HOLDING Prague). | |

and chemistry. This connection has been developed since 1894 when ”The First
Join-Stock Factory for Concentrated Fertilisers and Chemicals in Prerov” was
established. The factory was supplying farmers with superphosphate and also
producing sulphuric acid. Superphosphate was manufactured continuously
nearly for a centenary, by 1993. Along with ilmenite,
sulphuric acid is the second basic raw material used in titanium
dioxide manufacture. It is manufactured at PRECHEZA a.s. from liquid sulphur
in the S-1 sulphuric acid plant. This unit began production in 1962 with an
annual capacity of 1000,000 tonnes of acid. Extensive reconstruction was
carried out in 1989 and 2001 resulting in an increased annual capacity for
140,000 tonnes. Approximately 90% of sulphuric acid production is used
during the manufacture of titanium dioxide, the surplus material being sold. |
