March 8, 2007 - On January 31, CODELCO-CHILE AND THAI COPPER INDUSTRIES Co. signed, in the middle of reciprocal samples of satisfaction, the Act with which the successful Implementation of the Teniente Reactor and related equipment in the Rayong Smelter, To Thai Copper Industries Co., thus completing this activity.  During the start-up period, in a period of less than two months, it was possible to demonstrate the full operational flexibility and potentiality of the Teniente Reactor, with daily fusions reaching 1,500 tons per day: that is, a value close to 90% with With respect to the capacity of design, in a very fast learning curve. In the light of the results, there is great satisfaction among all those who participated in the Codelco Start-up team for the mission accomplished.  As of February 1, Codelco's team - consisting of thirty-two specialists and administrative staff - began returning to Chile to rejoin their divisions of origin, after three months of participation in this successful experience.  Achieving the design conditions of the facilities is now in the hands of the professional and technical staff of Thai Copper Industries Co, which with the support of CODELCO has received the training and training to successfully operate the technology of the Teniente Reactor (also known as El Teniente Converter).  The successful start-up of Thai Copper marks an important milestone for this Thai company in the production of high purity copper highly demanded. This fact also confirms the superiority of Teniente Reactor technology in that part of the Asian continent. December 9, 2006 - TCI has started producing Copper Cathode again from Dec 9, 2006 after the shut down of the plant and its smelting operations for approximate 17 months for the overhaul and maintenance works.   The new start up operations of TCI plant was assisted by the Chilean experts of over 120 persons from CODELCO and INDEC and with the technology transfer from those experts who can be accounted as one of the World’s best Copper Smelting know- how/technology holders

June 1, 2004 - The world's newest copper smelter was handed over from the EPC contractor Aker Kvaerner to Thai Copper on May 6. Aker Kvaerner's specialized commissioning and plant services business unit, Aker Kvaerner Bowen, has been contracted for assistance in further commissioning and ramp-up efforts. The USD 580 million smelter and refinery complex is scheduled to reach full production by mid 2005.  Approximately 5.0 million manhours were performed under an extremely good safety record.  The new smelter and refinery will produce 165,000 tonnes per year of 99.999 percent pure copper with the recognized industry standard LME Grade A. The production comprises 150,000 tonnes per year of copper from concentrates and 15,000 tonnes per year of copper from scrap.
