News April 28, 2014 - Sulphuric products producer WeylChem Lamotte and France-based Adisseo on Monday announced they have signed an agreement to construct a new sulphur acid regeneration unit in Picardy, France. The new unit will be strategically positioned to serve customers in the North of France and Benelux region, and should be operational by mid-2016. Financial and capacity details were not disclosed.Sulphuric acid regeneration is seen as an environmentally friendly process which allows chemical plants to recycle the acid in a loop, avoiding waste generation and giving a second life to the product, the companies said in a press statement.“By offering a local solution, road traffic and its associated costs will be reduced as well as the overall carbon footprint. These factors were key drivers to motivate this investment project, providing an attractive solution for neighbouring chemical plants,” they said.“Adisseo is already a major actor in the production and regeneration of sulphuric acid, both for its own use and for chemical customers. The combination of this new unit with the main site of Les Roches de Condrieu will increase the level of service provided to the chemical sector,” the companies added.WeylChem Lamotte, part of International Chemicals Investors Group (ICIG), produces sulphuric products such as sulphuric acid, oleum and sulfur dioxide (SO2) and this unit is planned to consolidate its on-site activities both in terms of economic and sustainable development.Adisseo is a manufacturer of nutritional solutions for animals. It designs, manufactures and markets four families of animal feed additives.
