General | Aguilar is the operator of the Aguilar mine located in the north west of Argentina. Lead concentrates produced from the mine are treated in Aguilar's own Palpala smelter and the resulting metal is sold domestically. The zinc concentrate is treated at the AR Zinc smelter, located in Santa Fe province, Central Argentina. The zinc metal produced is shipped to consumers primarily in Argentina and Brazil. AR Zinc is also a major supplier of sulphuric acid. The group was acquired by a Glencore subsidiary in 2005. |
