February 24, 2010 - Arehada Mining Limited today announced that its
wholly-owned subsidiary, Arehada (Barbados) Corporation, has signed an
agreement with Shanjin Mining Corporation, a Shandong based Chinese mining
comapny. Under the agreement, Arehada (Barbados) Corporation will sell all
of the shares it holds in Arehada Mining Corporation, the Chinese operating
subsidiary, to Shanjin Mining Corporation. The agreement has not yet taken
effect, and will only become effective upon the satisfaction of certain
conditions, including without limitation, receipt of approvals from the
regulatory authorities of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and Shandong
Province of China. Arehada will provide further details of the transaction
when the agreement takes effect. November 11, 2008 - Arehada Mining Limited today announced that it has initiated a temporary shut down of its operations at its mine and zinc plant. Arehada China has made dramatic reductions in its operational costs and other expenditure over the last several months. However, current zinc and lead prices have made the mine and zinc plant unprofitable. Accordingly, the operations are being suspended to prevent operational losses. The Company believes that the majority of other similar mines in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region have also shut down operations due to low commodity prices. The zinc plant and mine infrastructure are being prepared for the orderly suspension of all activities. Staff at the zinc plant and mine is being reduced to a level that will meet care and maintenance requirements. June 26, 2008 - Arehada Mining Limited today announces that its zinc plant in Dong Qi, Inner Mongolia, PRC has commenced production. The plant, which has the capacity to produce 50,000 tonnes of zinc calcine and 90,000 tonnes of sulphuric acid per annum, will be operated at a reduced rate during the startup phase and until the second tranche of bank financing is received (expected to be in the third quarter of 2008). This represents a major step in achieving the Company's goal of becoming the dominant base metal producer in Inner Mongolia which is poised to become one of the largest mining regions in China. |
