General Founded in 1953, Daye Non-ferrous Metals Co., Ltd. is one of the five large copper bases in China. After continuous construction over several decades, DNMC has now become a huge copper complex, with total assets of 3.3 billion RMB Yuan and annual turnover of about 1.8 billion RMB Yuan. Its main business scope includes mining, smelting, chemicals, electrical generation, metals casting and processing, co-generation, scientific research, engineering, transportation, trading in gold silver, iron concentrate, sulphur concentrates, sodium fluosicate copper rod oxygen-free, color aluminum products cement, compound phosphate, etc., as its by products.

Its annual output is some 150,000 tons of copper blister, 100,000 tons of copper cathode, 380,000 tons of sulfuric acid, and phosphate fertilizer.

Its target in the tenth five-year plan is to achieve the following development goals: increase production capacity of 200,000 tons in blister and cathode, to grow to total assets and annual income over 5 billion Yuan, and to build the complex into a modernized group with advanced enterprise systems, rational structures, technology-orientation, capital flexibility, and risk-resistance strategies.

China United Copper Co., Ltd. (CUC) www.cucltd.com

China United Copper Co., Ltd. (CUC) was established on 15 March, 2002 in Beijing, China. CUC is a jointly owned company, and was co-founded by China Minmetals Non-ferrous Co., Ltd. and the five backbone smelters in China: Jiangxi Copper Co., Tongling Non-ferrous Metals (Group) Co., Ltd., Yunnan Copper (Group), Ltd., Daye Non-ferrous Metals Co., Ltd., and Shanxi Zhongtiaoshan Non-ferrous Metals (Group) Co., Ltd. The registered capital is 10 million RMB Yuan.
This is the first time for the Chinese copper industry to organize the six industry-giants into an alliance to deal with non-domestic entities and projects. It marks a new milestone for China's copper industry.
CUC's aim is to unify Chinese copper smelters from separate business units into a strong business alliance for the negotiation and import of copper concentrate. Such a strategic action ensures the partners' common interests, namely creating a harmonized "voice" in negotiations with foreign mine-owners concerning joint exploitation and development of overseas mines. The result is the strategic stabilization of raw material supplies for China's domestic smelters, by obtaining the long-term overseas sources. This is a historical moment for our cooper industry, a turning point from short-term and spot copper purchases toward mid-term/long-term and strategic purchases. In addition, the joint development of new overseas copper mine resources will lead toward the realization of long term security.

News September 16, 2024 - Hong Kong-listed China Daye Non-Ferrous Metals Mining said on Monday a fire at its copper facilities in China caused a stoppage, which three sources with direct knowledge of the matter said would last for three months.  China Daye Non-Ferrous Metals Mining Ltd did not respond to a Reuters request for comment on Monday on the length of its shutdown or the cause of the fire.  The stoppage could mean the release of copper raw materials to the market, which has faced unprecedented shortages this year.  The fire at the Daye operations in China’s central Hubei province broke out on Saturday at its sulphuric acid facility, said the sources, who declined to be named.  Sulphuric acid production is an integral part of the copper smelting process, sales of which contribute to smelters’ revenues.  Although primary smelting would be shut, Daye’s refinery will remain in partial operation to produce copper cathodes using intermediate products like scrap and blister, the sources said.  Daye, a subsidiary of China Nonferrous Mining Corp, said on Monday it expected to produce 680,000 metric tons of copper cathode this year after taking account of the impact of the fire.  In March, the company said it was targeting output of 870,000 tons of copper cathode.  Fundamentals along the copper supply chain are increasingly polarized, with mined copper concentrates facing shortages due to rapid expansion of global smelting capacity.  Meanwhile copper cathodes, a more refined form of copper for making cables and wires, are facing a surplus due to lacklustre demand from top buyer China.

November 12, 2021 -
China-based Daye Non-ferrous' 400,000 t/yr copper smelter will delay its commissioning to mid-2022 instead of late 2021 because its imported equipment or parts have been delayed because of the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. The smelter is adopting "double flash" copper smelting technology and is projected to process 1.6mn t/yr of copper concentrates and produce 400,000 t/yr of copper cathode and 1.5mn t/yr of sulphuric acid."Feed [of raw materials] is planned to start in May with copper cathode being produced in June," a source with direct knowledge of the matter told Argus.  Daye's copper cathode capacity will total 1mn t/yr following the commissioning of the 400,000 t/yr new smelter. This will position it as the fourth copper smelter with smelting capacity of at least 1mn t/yr in China along with China Copper, Jiangxi Copper and Tongling Non-ferrous.Daye Non-ferrous is a subsidiary of state-owned China Nonferrous Metal Mining and is located in Huangshi cityin central China's Hubei province.

October 10, 2012 - China’s Hubei Daye Nonferrous Corporation plans to restart its 600,000 tonne/year copper smelter acid plant in Hubei province at the end of October, a company source said on Wednesday.  The unit was shut on 30 September for annual maintenance, the source added.  The shutdown will have little impact on the local sulphuric acid market because of weak demand from the phosphate industry, traders said.

July 28, 2009
- Interfax of China reported that Daye Nonferrous Metals Company Limited plans to submit an application for a domestic initial public offering to the China Securities Regulatory Commission in September.  A Daye Nonferrous Metals employee, who wished to remain anonymous, said that "We are now doing preparatory work for our listing plan and have yet to finalize a timetable."  Recently the Hubei Daily newspaper reported that the company aims to list on a domestic stock market in 2010.  Daye Nonferrous generated total sales revenue of CNY 15 billion in 2008 and made a net profit of CNY 235 million. The company aims to increase its sales revenue to CNY 30 billion by the end of 2010.  Daye Nonferrous has an annual production capacity of 380,000 tonnes of copper, 10 tonnes of gold, 300 tonnes of silver, 350,000 tonnes of iron ore, 60,000 tonnes of copper tube, 100,000 tonnes of copper bar and 600,000 tonnes of sulfuric acid.
