General | In order to prevail in international competition, SMM formed a business partnership with Mitsui Mining & Smelting Co., Ltd. in 2002 and established MS Zinc Co., Ltd, in which an integrated system from production to distribution has been established. The Harima Smelter, which produces zinc and lead consigned by MS Zinc Co., Ltd, introduced the ISP refining method, an innovative technology to simultaneously produce zinc and lead in ore, developed by Imperial Smeltering Processes, Ltd., for the first time in Japan, and was established in the Higashi Harima industrial district. Having the merit of being located close to consuming areas of the Keihanshin (Kyoto-Osaka-Kobe) area, the Harima Smelter boasts excellent operation results. | |
