- Once again, Topsoe has signed a contract with Shanghai Coking and Chemical
Corporation for a WSA plant. “Shanghai Coking is one of our first and most
important WSA customers in China. We are happy and honoured that Shanghai
Coking has chosen the WSA technology again for their second plant,” says
sales manager Jens Kristen Laursen from Topsoe’s Marketing and Sales. The
project is part of China’s general coal gasification programme for reducing
China’s dependence on import of gas and oil. The coal gas is to be used for
the production of various chemicals and methanol. The WSA plant treats the
sulphur waste from the coal and the plant is expected to produce 100 tons of
sulphuric acid per day. February 19, 2004 - By the end of 2003, the contract for the fourth WSA sulphuric acid plant in P.R. China became effective. The project is realized with support from the Danish international development agency, DANIDA, under the mixed credits scheme between Peoples Republic of China and Denmark. The plant will treat hydrogen sulphide off-gas from a gas treatment unit installed in Shanghai Coking & Chemical Corporation’s coal gasifier complex, located in the outskirts of the city of Shanghai. The capacity of the plant is 40 metric ton per day of 98% concentrated sulphuric acid. |
