Common Name | PP |
Chemical Name | Polypropylene |
Trade Names | - |
General | Type 1 PP conforming to ASTM D2146 is a polyolefin which is lightweight and generally high in chemical resistance. Normally opaqued by the addition of carbon black. The naturally translucent material without carbon black is prone to degradation due to ultraviolet light penetration. Unaffected by alkalis, salts, organic solvents, and most acids, particularly hydrochloric and phosphoric acids. Unsuitable on strong acids, chlorinated hydrocarbons and aromatic compounds. PP is joined by the thermoseal fusion process, threading or flanging. |
